After the 9/4 show which featured Jamil, I switched from a 1L starter to a 2L starter on my ales. Since then, my last 3 batches have all had considerably shorter lag times, and have given me the best fermentations I have ever had with those strains. I second the suggestion of going to Jamil's site, as well as listening to the 9/4 archive. This has been some of the most valuable information I have gathered from any resource.

I went to Jamil's site and I listened to the 9/4 archive. The man is into the science of this hobby for sure. I now have some new tools to use the next time I brew. Can't wait!

Thanks All,

Hey all... again, thanks for your help. Just wanted to give you all an update on the Brown Ale. Went in the bottles today, finally, the OG was 1.058 and ended around 1.018. I tasted it and it was pretty good... ok, i kept pouring off pint after pint until I was getting pie eyed ok?.., but the color was good and it was very nice tasting. I don't know enough about what it is suppose to smell like or taste like other than what I like.

Anyway, thanks again for all you help.

Regards,

Rob

Thanks for posting back. That always helps people that look at the threads later to know what the results are. :P

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Thanks Travis, you don't know how much help you guys have been.
You are keeping me grounded while I am learning. I am thinking about doing a partial mash oatmeal stout next. I know they have kits but I think I'm going to put something together myself.

Figure out your recipe and post it. I'm sure some of the guys can give you some ideas on it.
