Oxygen Tank - Regulator won't come off!

Ok, this is my second time using my little oxygen tank and regulator. I was told (I think by Lufah) that it's best to store the oxygen tank with the regulator removed. For some reason, the damn thing just won't come off. I don't think I overly tightened it. I just turned it until it didn't spin freely, then gave it maybe a quarter turn. Now, even with a large pair of pliars, I can't get the thing off. It still works properly, but I don't know what I"m going to do when the tank runs dead. I'm hesitant to do too much with it while it's still holding so much oxygen. Should I just leave it on there until the tank dies and then try to remove it? Ideas?

You do know the threads are reverse, right? Just be sure you're turning the correct way. Other than that there should be no problem loosening the regulator.

Please do not be insulted by this question but.... are you sure you are turning it the correct direction?

O2 tanks have left-hand threads on them so they are not mixed up and improperly installed where other gasses with right-hand threads go.

Yeah, no insult taken. I've definitely checked, and I am turning opposite of the way that the regulator was installed.

Good GOD, I've got worse short term memory than Justin! Y'all were right. I was turning the thing the wrong freakin' way. I made a mental note "OK, I'm turning it this way to put it on, so I have to turn it that way to take it off" and in the time it took to oxygenate the wort, I totally reversed them in my head.

I can't even claim drunk of the week, as I haven't even been drinking. I've now written on the tank with sharpie so I won't forget.
