First batch is in the fermenter!

Sat Apr 16, 2011 5:29 pm

Just pitched two packs of Wyeast 1056 into my first 5 gallon batch of IPA. I steeped some crystal and munich, and used 10 lbs of light LME. Half of the extract i used upfront and the rest at 5 min. I used Simcoe for bittering and Simcoe/Centennial for flavor and aroma. It all went great until my strainer clogged during transfer, I think i should have used a hop bag. Then i pitched before i took a sample for my OG. Other than that and pitching a little warm i think it went great. Cant wait to taste it :pop

I remember my first batch...It tasted like shit!
Just kidding.
Way to go and way to pop the cherry!
Keep us posted on how it comes out. I just love the sound of fermenting beer in the morning.....and the afternoon....and at night......
