Hefeweizen looking clear in the bottle

Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:05 am

Just bottled a hef on Sunday. Looked nice and cloudy coming out the 2nd fermenter but in the bottles it cleared up :? . Anything I should worry about or just enjoy my Kristalweizen!?!

Just roll the bottle on the table (like a rolling pin) before popping the top.

The haze from a Heffe is supposed to come from the yeast anyways. We all add other sources of haze to keep it looking good, but a well-brewed heffe is probably fairly clear until the yeast get in there.

You could also pour about 2/3 of the beer into a glass then swirl the remaining beer in the bottle to rouse the yeast and top off your beer making a nice cloudy effect!
