I did that one back in October. Drinking it now. Tasty!

What a coinkie-doink. I did a Dort yesterday, but it was my own recipe. Although, I must admit, I did listen to Jamil's podcast on Dort before brewing it. 8)

Either a Scottish 60/-, my house bitter or a pilsner. I have the ingredients for the first two, but I'd like to try my first lager before the weather warms - should probably try something a bit less challenging than a pils, but wtf may as well toss my mettal in the fire and see what comes out.

Mashing a mini 3-gallon kitchen batch of dunkel right now.

I think from now on more and more of my batches will either be mini-sized ('cause I can brew them inside, at night, after the kiddies are in bed) or biggie-sized ('cause, um, there's more beer that way!). No more will I be a slave to the tyranny of the 5-gallon batch!

Brewed an IPA last Saturday. Unfortunately I missed the gravity. We'll see what happens.

Just dry hump... hopped my batch of American Pale/Amber ale on Monday night. It's a bit darker than a pale and lighter than an amber. I hopped it with 1oz Simcoe @ first wort hopping, .5 Crystal at start of boil, and 1.5 oz Crystal at 5 minutes. It has two ounces of Crystal whole hops in the tank now for dry hopping.

I took Jamil's Pale Ale and his Amber Ale and then adjusted the grain bill to hit inbetween the two. I then switched the hops so that it was closer my guess as to that the Hop Trip might have in it. I used two yeast on this one the SF Lager yeast and the California Ale yeast. I tasted the beer from the hydrometer reading when I put the dry hops in. The fermentation was slow but active and the beer was quite taste even at this stage.

I gotta say, I frickin LOVE the smell of the Crystal hops. They are a new favorite of mine now. Are they underrated? I dunno but this is the first time I've used them.

Anyone try Hop Trip from Deschutes Brewing? That is all fresh Crystal and a damn fine beer. Not a full blown west coast IPA but a super fragrant and hoppier than normal APA.
