I just listened to the last of four Smodcasts where Kevin Smith played a recording he made when he was 20. Eventually, Scott Mosier said something that made some sense of this. Trying to explain "Emo-Kev", Mosier said that the late teens and 20s is the time where a person tries to separate themselves from their childhood, and get a handle on the stronger emotions. I thought that explained a lot. Some people can work their way through it, some can't.

If my memory serves me right, I believe the first appearance of Meister of Puppets was when he called in to ask advice on what type of beer to brew to get his friends to stop drinking BMC crap

Does anyone have a time-stamp (or show date) for this?

Any other time-stamps with Meister in them (besides the few already mentioned earlier in this thread) would be much appreciated.

I just heard about his today while I was on Curt G's Facebook. Shocked and saddened. I remember Meister as a good dude and I cannot imagine what his friends and family must be going through. Rest in Peace.

I just heard this terrible news. I had many great conversations with Meister and my heart goes out to his family. He was a smart kid who seemed to have a lot going for him. I'm very sad to hear this.

Matthew Neyland Keefe, age 20, of Brentwood, TN and Ft. Mitchell, KY died suddenly Monday, Oct. 8 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, where he was a Junior studying Fermentation Science. He attended Ensworth H.S. prior to moving to Cincinnati where he graduated from Summit Country Day School in 2010 as a Merit Finalist. At OSU he was on the Dean’s List and a beloved member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Matthew’s interest in yeast and bread baking as a young child transferred to a passion for beer brewing with the ambition of being the next Sam Adams, receiving a Brewing Network scholarship and medaling at the age of 16 in the national home brew competition.
In his short life he accomplished and saw many things. He traveled throughout the U.S. and to over 20 countries, recently returning from a study abroad in Italy. He was knowledgeable about just about any topic but was especially passionate about economics and politics. He was the 4th District Representative for the state of KY for his beloved Libertarian Party beginning at the age of 17 and was a representative at the national convention in 2012. His convictions made him a frequent interviewee on TV.
More than anything, Matthew will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor; whether as an Elvis impersonator, or the constant flow of both good and bad puns that would spew from him, he would always have the whole room laughing. He had an amazing capacity for love and a heart of gold. He was an avid Reds and Titans fan.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father Edward Keefe and his grandparents Bob and Diddy Wood. He is survived by his mother Stephanie Wood Keefe Schmitter, step-father Jeffrey Schmitter, step-brothers Karl and Ben, grandmother Peggy Keefe, grandfather Bud Keefe, uncle Robert Wood, aunts Glenna (Steve) Riggleman and Karen Keefe, and many cousins.
Funeral Mass at St. Edward’s Catholic Church at 3:30 Sunday, October 14, Rev. Joseph Pat Breen officiating, with a rosary at 2:15 and visitation at 2:30. A second memorial service will be held in Cincinnati during winter break.
The family requests contributions be made to The Matthew Keefe Memorial Fund; Attn: D. Figlio; 1st Advantage Bank; 3100 West End Ave., Ste. 250; Nashville, TN 37203 to assist with the establishment of scholarships dedicated to Matthew and his love of learning.

I've lost too many people to suicide, the most recent, beside our friend here, was an ex girlfriend. We dated about 15 years ago, in highschool. She broke up with me when got raped, got pregnant from the rape, moved away to have the baby and give it up for adoption.
Thais is not a story I tell many people, it's really fucked up. But she took her life this year, and it sucks.
Depression is a fucked up thing, if suicide even crosses your mind, please talk to someone, or call 800-273-8255.

I love you guys,
James
