It's fuckin' Friday and I took a vacation day!! Racking my stout over to secondary, bottling my entry for the Midwinter Home Brew comp, and a trip to the LHBS to get some stuff for an amber ale.

Kegging tomorrow (German Pils) and brewing Sunday ( Dusseldorf Alt ).

Putting 10gallons of O-fest in secondary, and bottling up some Steam beer for some competitions. I'll probably be drinking beer this weekend too. SHOCKER!

Other than watching the SuperBowl, I'll be working this weekend. Fucking audit next week!

And drinking beer. I may keg the vanilla chocolate stout too. I definitely won't be making any progress on my kegerator though.

I'll be judging the GEBL IPA Challenge tomorrow.
This is a FUN one- Only Category 14 (IPA's) and 23's where the base beer is a Category 14.

The morning is spent judging all of the beers like a regular competition. The scores are used to then seed them into an elimination bracket (think of the NCAA Basketball elimination bracket) where each beer goes head to head with one other beer and the winner moves on to the next bracket (ie, Sweet 16, Magic 8, Final 4, etc) then one winner is crowned.

To make it even more fun, each entrant is emailed his anonymous entry number, and you can watch it realtime live on the web via webcam as the bracket is updated. Entrants can watch as your entry moves through the brackets and the final winner is crowned.

That's a really cool concept for a comp. I'm sure the judges will have just as much fun with it as the participants. Even though I'm not into the competition side of brewing, I could probably be talked into entering something like this.
