It would, but a piece of tape on the outside that says "Don't forget the stir bar!" would probably do as well. It's not hard to pour everything except the bar as long as one remembers.

At least the first flask reminded me to be careful on the second flask :?

Just wondering...

That's what I have started doing after a couple mishaps. The problem now is remembering to use the outside magnet.

I use a magnet to retrieve my stir bar. I slide it up and out of my flask. Granted I've only done about ten batches with my stir plate, I've yet to pitch a stir bar (knock on wood).

What's the problem, anyway? :)

I always pitch the yeast with the stir bar, I bought a ten pack of stir bars so I won't run out. Just so long as I remember to retrieve it from the yeast cake every time I rack my beer :)

This is one of the reasons I like my 1 gal. glass cider jug as opposed to the erlemeyr flask. No, you can't put it directly on the stove, but because of the shoulder between the neck and the body, the stir bar stays in the jug. Plus it's a whole lot cheaper than a 4000ml flask!
