My Rye IPA will be ready by then too. Bet mine's better than yours.

I have a couple that I think will be good enough to enter. May also have to think up something in an obscure category so I actually have a chance to win something.

I am nearly certain you are right, but send me 5 or 6 and I will provide you a fair and impartial evaluation.

To be safe, better make it 10 or 12 bottles.

I am really getting excited about this homebrew competition now.
Does anybody know if girls enter seperately from guys???
I seem to remember that I have heard that some clubs do that...or is that specific competitions...
Also...How many bottles do we enter? What is the best way to ship them? Do I need to find a name for my beer too?
Questions over Questions...
Thanks for your help guys

PS: Mrs. Henning, how about you enter your cherry beer too...would be great if they would receive yours and mine...GIRL POWER :drink

I'm not part of that club, but according to the rules, there is no mention of boys vs. girls. Sorry! :)

Also, you need to submit 3 bottles per entry and attach a form to each one using a rubber band. Not sure about shipping as I've never done it. Just don't label it as beer. They'll send it right back to you.

This will be my first entry as well. I'm entering a America Pale Ale and maybe an Ordinary Bitter. GO ME!

By far the easiest way I have found to ship is to go to http://ups.com and sign up for an account there. You can initiate the shipment there, print the label, tape it to the box and drop it off at any UPS authorized shipping center (they are all over the place).

The staff sees the sticker with the bar codes and addresses and such already on the box and say "just dropping one off?" I nod and leave the package on the counter.

If you go to the counter to pay and fill out the label and such they will ask you all sorts of questions to which you will have to either think up creative answers or lie.

As for packaging, I like to wrap each bottle in bubble wrap, put them in a 6-pack holder. Put a disposable diaper on the bottom of the 6-pack holder. Put the whole contraption in a plastic trash bag. Line your outer box with another bag, and use crushed paper or more bubble wrap to line between the 6-pack holder and the outer box.

I don't use peanuts because they can shift, and they are a pain in the neck for the person who receives them.

I entered this comp last year, and took 2nd in my category. They gave out really nice medals. Oh yeah, I'll probably be there judging too. Look out!
