WARNING: Aussie Filter Failing......Failing.....Failed

Sat May 20, 2006 9:49 am

Hello everyone out there in the BN community. Been listening and lurking a few months now and decided it was time I said Hi.

Well..... Hi

The name's Dan and I hail from Melbourne Australia, a hellova long way south of most of the other Aussies I see posting in the forum.

Right now, my very first batch of all grain homebrew is in the bottle waiting for me to try it. A bunch of the things that went into the making of this first (hopefully of many) batch came from listening to the BN and I'd like to say thanks very much to you all, brewcasters and listeners alike, for the many things I have learned, and the fun I have had listening while I did my learning. Thanks Heaps.

If you have been listening to the Graham Sanders on the Aussie Craftbrewers Radio show, you will have heard my muffled voice a couple of times recently, talking about my very first batch; and my cheap arsed attempt at constructing a brewery. I feel kind of funny knowing that before I even introduce myself to you all, you might well have already heard my silly stories replayed with Grahams' show on the BN. I didn't think of that when I sent the recordings to Graham

I finally got the live feed to work on my computer, its taken me weeks!! And I think that I might be able to drop into the chat on Sunday for the first time as well.

Anyway, this is too long for an introduction. So I'll just stop right now. Hello again and see you Sunday.

G'day Dan,

Welcome to the forum from another Aussie who slipped through the filter a while back. Your reports to Graham's show absolutely rock! They are definitely nothing to be embarrassed about. I love that cheap-arsed style, it is very clever and shows that you don't have to be as loaded as Doc Scott to get started. Looking forward to hearing more of your experiments.

Cheers
Geoff

Thanks Skipper,

I went witht the cheap and cheerful option because I am brewing on the balcony of my apartment and I dont have great load of room. Plus I wanted to do small batches so that I could brew more often without filling my house up with beer in storage. Also it ended up being a bit of a challange to do it without spending hundreds of dollars.

When I get around to it, I'll post a picture of the set-up in the sculptures thread for eveyone to have a look at. I am actually quite proud of it in a perverse kind of fashion.

I'll be shooting Graham another report in the next couple of weeks with the grand tasting (and a couple of other things) glad you enjoyed the other ones.

Cheers

Dan

PS: I have disturbing dreams about Dr Scott's brewery.... My wife is statrting to get suspicious :D

Bub,

I have the uncommon but happy problem of having too much beer (well booze in general) in my life.... I work for a major brewer and wine producer and we get a beer allocation, plus a fair few discounted product offerrings. I was just about keeping demmand on a par with supply before I started to brew. But if I throw 5 gallon batches into the mix I'm gonna be swamped.

I think that when I really start to get into my stride with the AG thing, I'm going to be popular with my mates, cause I'm going to be giving away a fair bit of grog.

I can just tell that everyone out there is going to feel soooo sorry for me when they hear my sad, sad tale...

Welcome to the forum and to Bub's "official people I hate list". It's pretty much the whole forum minus Daniela.
