Hey All,
I have been lurking around for about a month now and I have been listening to all the archives while I am at work.
I'm a chemist, well I am actually working on my PhD at an eastcoast school. I have been brewing all grain since November 05 and I actually started brewing when I was 18 (one of those terrible Mr. Beer things).
Anyway, I'd like to say this whole Network is great. I have learned alot and its entertaining to say the least.

Yeah, except how to spell, genius; "a lot" is two words and "its" is possesive, but "it's" would have been correct in your sentence.

:D ! Okay... Boob and I are the local pricks, but he has a much fouler mouth.

Welcome, Josephus! What are you brewing with (equipment-wise) now that you shoved the Mr. Beer into your in-law's hands?

Cheers,
Push Eject

All right, another chemist!

What East Coast school are you doing your PhD at? It's probably not as nice as the weather here at Caltech!

Brewing is better than chemsitry since you can drink your product

Welcome Josephus,

Great that you are a chemist too, maybe you can answer some of our questions. What field of chemistry are you working in?

I'm at Lehigh University.
I am in ANALytical chemistry but my research is with Polyoxomolybdates (colloids). These POMs self assemble into vesicle-like stuctures and they are water soluble inorganic molecules. I guess the only way they really relate to beer is like chill haze which is a result of colloids in suspension.
Anyway, I would be happy to try and answer any chemistry related questions but I am by no means an expert.
I'm brewing with a cooler setup. I have a 70 qt. mashtun with a hose braid, a 5 gallon sparge water cooler, and a converted keg for a kettle.
I like to brew very hoppy pale ales, lagers/pilsners, and random styles in between.
And yah I can't spell, have terrible grammar, oh well.
