Great honey buying experience

Sat Sep 29, 2012 10:20 pm

Thought I'd share the great experience I just had buying honey online.

I placed an order with Flying Bee Ranch in Salem, OR. Very simple website, no online store or anything, simply sent them an email with what I wanted and my address. I had a reply back the same day with a very reasonable shipped price and a Paypal invoice shortly after that. Package arrived in 3 days via USPS. The honey is great but what really blew me away was that enclosed in the package was a hand written thank you card from the owner. Old school customer service at it's best. I highly recommend these guys!

I hope I wasn't the only one expecting a pic of a sexy Russian bride trying to peel the air mail stamp off her forehead.

Just checked out their site... that's an impressive variety of honeys! Which ones are you working with?

I picked up 18lbs of the meadowfoam. It's no lie when people say it tastes like toasted marshmallows. 18lbs of honey + water topped up to 5 gals yielded an O.G. of 1.163

Just racked and sampled this batch. Gravity is now at 1.028, tastes pretty nice, just needs a little time I think!

I sampled a mead made with meadowfoam a few years ago. If you love toasted marshmellows then yes your in luck. It was quite memorable.
