Fermentation Temps

Does anyone control fermentation temps with their mead? I have not, letting them ferment in the low 70's. I think I might put my primary in a tub of ice-water to try to get it to ferment in the mid- to low 60's. Any thoughts?

I think Oskaar et al suggest to keep it towards the cool end of the fermentation temps for mead. that was one main suggestion I got from most score sheets on my meads from the IMF in Feb...

T-shirt over the carboy with a fan might do the trick...

Absolutely! The first batch I made went a little warm and produced some amazing fusel alcohols! I still remember the headache.

Now I always try and keep the fermentation at the low end of the range ...
