Ahhhhhh yes. The phrase that appears once every other page in Papazian's book. I love it!

i brewed a wit last sunday (21st) and it had some small krausen and i thought it stalled out, until this morning when it was over-flowing. So it's all good, beer will work itself out. 18 hours or 8 days ... who knows.

This is a fairly common and the answers above go right in line with every answer I've seen or given. I'm a lazy brewer and usually don't do starters, and when my step father started to join in the fun he does the same thing only he got a smaller smack pack instead of one of the larger ones. His brew took about 18 hours and then it took off like a bat out of hell.

I make a starter not to just get a quick start to fermentation, but to ensure fermentation finishes...
