Chances are we just made a very noobish mistake and did not let the smack pack puff fully enough.
I will be visiting my LBHS tomorrow and ask his advice and quite possibly purchase two dry yeasts.
I'm not sure why, and perhaps this is unusual but our grav reading came in at about 1.100. This could be another reason for the yeast not working.
Fermentation temperature is between 60 and 65 F.
And the seal in the bucket should be OK as we have used it twice now and there has been no problem with the seal. We have seen activity within the first or second day after primary.
And yes, we aerated the piss out of the beer prior to pitching the yeast.
Thanks a lot for the tips. Your help has been amazing.
Final question: after pitching the two dry yeasts, will there be any negative effects on the final product?
Ideating - Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Raspberry Wheat
