Propagator Pack Didn't Puff Up

Thisis my first Propagator Pack. I have always done starters with the Activator Packs. Anywho, this one is from March08, from 2008. I popped it this morning. A Point of interest is that I froze it in a Commercial freezer about 3 weeks ago. I thawed it out, and I popped the packet at about 0900 this morning. Here it is, 2100 on Sunday night and I am making my starter solution. I am brewing tomorrow. My question is this. Do the Propagator packs Swell right up like the Activators do? I'll find out tomorrow morning if the Yeast is good or not.

The freezing probably slowed it down... If you have nothing by tomorrow you are probably somewhat fucked.

I was always under the assumption that Freezing yeast was okay. When you do a Yeast Farm, you freeze it. Ah well. I just took another Propagator Pack out of the freezer. I'll let it thaw out and Pop it when appropriate. If that one doesn't Puff up, I guess I'll stop freezing Wyeast packets.

If this starter isn't doing anything, I still want to brew tomorrow. I'll let the Wort sit for a day with an Air Lock and I'll pick up an activator pack on Tuesday from my LHBS.

DO NOT FREEZE YEAST
The folks who freeze yeast for slants and whatnot have special solutions and super cold freezers... you will burst cells and kill a whole bunch of the good guys unless you do it right.

I would definitely create a starter to build up the yeast (if any) is left. Otherwise, there's not much chance you'll have enough yeast to give you a good fermentation.
