Question on a starter

Mon May 12, 2008 5:05 pm

This weekend I will be brewing a Russian Imperial Stout with an expected Efficiency of 1.100. I was going to use one packet of Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale for the starter in a 2 litre starter. Thing is, Mr. Malty is saying to use 2 packets. How about if I refeed the starter 3 times before saturday? think I'll be good with 1 packet? Or should I just do it once with 2 packets?

Also,, I have never done a starter this big. I'm thinking that a Blow off Tube would be a good thing. I'll be using a 1/2 gallon glass Jar. Blow off tube?

Make a 2 L starter with one packet. That will make about 2 packages of yeast. Then you can proceed with your next starter.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.
