Yes, I hope someone helped this person get home safely. Everyone there was probably quite friendly and would be willing to do that. But seriously, if someone I knew got that drunk in public, I would be giving that person grief, not the people that found it funny. Bitchin at the onlookers doesn't help this persons drinking problem. If there is anything wrong with this situation, it is that a grown woman got so drunk in public that she fell asleep sitting upright.

If an adult of legal drinking age chooses to have too much and pass out, it does not give anyone else the right to fuck with them. This is the part that really slays me. People defend the position of asshole shamers by claiming that the passed out person "offends" them in some way. How is a passed out person a public problem anyway? You should be more concerned with the person who doesn't pass out and decides to drive home. I adopt the mindset of "live and let live". As long as the drunk person isn't passed out on you, why would you care? How does their choice to drink too much affect your life in any way? My 2 cents.

whew! I feel better. :)

If you owned the restaurant or bar, you sure as hell would care. That's not exactly great for business. If it was my bar I'd call a cab and they would be gone. Do you like to clean up piss from drunken slumberers? It also makes your bartender look really, really not great. I think that people should be personally accountable, but that doesn't seem to be how our legal system works.

Whew! I feel exactly the same as before. :)

You own a restaurant/bar and overly drunk people bother you? You are in the wrong business.

As I said before.....there are no issues as long as people act responsibly to drunkards (calling cabs, calling cops, telling their friends to get them the hell out.) Also no problem with expecting drinkers to pay the legal piper for destruction of property and piss clean-up. No problems there. If that was me passed out I would totally understand that I received trouble from the bar owner. What I'm saying is that if you shame or draw on me or my buddies..... I WILL STAB YOU. So the next time anyone feels the need to shame, beware of the huge dickhead with no sense of humor. (that's me)

Kick me out or call the law, but if you have a sharpie in your hand it's going to get ugly.

Overly drunk customers can cost a restaurateur his liquor license. It better bother him. His kids need to eat, too.

No doubt....but if you own a bar don't bitch about it. If you don't like the problems that come with drunks....sell ice cream. It's like a Veteranarian bitching about all the sick animals around him. It comes with the job. You have to take the good with the bad.

If you don't like drunk people....don't sell alcohol.
If you don't like passed out people....call them a cab or kick them out.
If you feel it ruins your image...call them a cab or kick them out.
If you feel you liquor license is in danger (in your state anyway)...call them a cab or kick them out.
If you feel the drunkard is about to piss himself and make a mess... call them a cab or kick them out.
If the drunk gives you shit..... call the law.

It's actually pretty simple. :)

But wouldn't kicking someone our or calling the law mean the owner was bothered by the drunk?

Yes. If you were to read my post you would find that these were possible solutions to bar-owners bothered by drunks. What I was stating is that if you own a bar you may need to adjust your tolerance level towards drunks.......maybe because you made money creating those drunks.

I'm done. This thread is getting old. Feel free to find another lame excuse to draw on someone without me.

Hey, I agree with you about the drawing part. I just disagree that a bar owner should just let drunks do anything they want short of the drawing thing.

I'm gonna agree with Dirk here... the drawing thing is just immature. The bar owner and the bartenders are the ones responsible for the drunk people in more ways than one. They are the ones that create the drunk, but they are also the ones that are responsible for the drunk once they are that way. if something happens to said drunk... you are the one the put them in that position. Sure, they should have self control, but you are not supposed to serve someone who is visibly intoxicated. A little drunk is one thing... I've seen guys physically removed from bars because they were about to fall asleep (and not nicely).
