Heading to Memphis

Anyone have recommendations for bars, brewpubs or breweries to check out while I'm down there. Would love to try some beer that I can't get in NY. Thanks!

I can't speak to any bars, but I had great ribs at Marlowe's on Elvis Presley Blvd. I know there's a Bosco's Brew pub, but we never made it there.

I don't recall there being much actually in Memphis in the way of breweries. However, things you can get there that you can't get in NY: Sweetwater (GA), Schlafly (MO), Yazoo (Nashville), Abita (LA). For food, barbecue just about anywhere, or check out Gus's fried chicken. If you go bottle shopping, hit a beer store and a liquor store (for higher gravity beers--all beer over 6 or 7% has to be sold there).

This is a great place for a sandwich and a pint for lunch: Young Avenue Deli

Thanks guys. Got to try Ghost River, Schlafly & Yazoo. Gus' Chicken lived up to the hype. Flying Saucer downtown is the place to go for a great beer selection.
