Brew system exhaust fans

As I finish off the basement (pics to come in separate thread) I'm setting up my brewing area. I'm going electric, but I still want/need a fan for removing steam. What CFM should I be looking at?
Balto, I see you are using what looks to be a standard stove hood. Is that adequate, or would you like a little higher cfm?

While it might "look" like Balto is just using a regular hood, he has turbo-charged it by putting in a one of those radon exhaust fans inline with the hood.

I'm no HVAC guy, but I would think that you would be fine with 400 CFM. You are only talking water vapor - it's not like you are doing gas and need to completely exchange all the air in the room.

Uhh, what if you were doing gas? Since grease isn't involved, I was looking at type II hoods, like

I owned a bagel shop for several years and the type of hood that you linked to above is what we had over our gas fired 50 gal kettle...It pulled all the steam out of the area and any possible gas fumes. I would check with a HVAC tech to make sure you size it properly.

All you need to do is go over to the Air Force base there and pick up a surplus jet engine to power it.
