Leaky jets

Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:43 am

I have 3 multi-jet burners like the ones B3 sells.
In order to get them into position on my brewstand I had to remove some jets and then screw them back in.
Now a few of them are leaking causing a lot of yellow flame where there is otherwise blue flame.
Any suggestions on how to seal them.
Teflon?, pipe dope?, cardboard and duct tape?

Thanks,

Are the threads stripped? The brass should have taken the beating before the cast iron. I know you can get replacement tips. Maybe you can try some tin foil and wrap the treads? I'm pretty sure this is a recipe for some sort of galvanic corrosion, but shit - it will probably work.

It seems to be the cast iron, the threads on the jets are still intact.
They just don't seem to tighten all the way.

I thought about foil, but wasn't sure how that would work out.

It is rated at 2600F and should work fine for what you are trying to do.

I'm glad I can laugh at that, it could have easily been tragic.

No problem Brotha!

That's some great stuff just don't get it on your cloths, that shit never comes out. I got some on my Russian River shirt and now it's ruined forever. Or at least until until June when I head out for BNA4/NHC.
