I like the big Hurricane burners. Very even heat. They are High Pressure. I get them from Amazon.com and I use a High Pressure regulator.

Your question just gave me an awesome idea... If you could find "replacement nozzles" from the company that makes the tip burners - you could drill a set out for NG. That way you could replace them. I had dismissed the idea of using NG because I occassionally like to go "on the road". If I had that set up, I could keep a set of tips for the propane, and a set for NG. It would be a pain in the ass to switch out 30 jets - but would give you flexibility.

I once converted a LP Propage BBQ into a NG one by drilling out the jets. No problem. It would take some tinkering to get it right.

Here's one expensive source for the 10 jet burner:

I've found them elsewhere for less than $50, but nowhere near as cheap as the 20+ burners. Go figure. If someone wants the better price, I can dig up the link. I'm still thinking I want to go with this burner

if my plumber thinks he can hook it up. That gives you full power to get to a boil, and then turn off one valve to crank it down.

Most posters say they want the smaller burner on the boil kettle to avoid boil overs, and the full blast burner on the HLT for speed.

That CPAPC place sells the nozzles separately.

What about swapping out some of the burner tips for appropriately threaded bolts? I have seen pics of guys doing that on some of the forums, and it sounds
like it works quite well for them

I swapped out 10 of the jets on one of my burners for bolts to dial back the flame. The full burner was so hot it was cracking welds on the stand. It took M 10 x 1.0 mm bolts. I had to order them from McMaster-Carr. Hardware stores don't stock bolts with the correct pitch.

Really, they could be a little shorter, but these worked. They're not cheap, but they did the trick.

When you do swap them out, make sure you keep the remaining jets in pairs. They need to point at one another for the burner to work as its designed. This isn't the greatest picture, but hopefully it gives you the idea. If you want a different angle, let me know and I can grab one after I'm done brewing.

The M10's ened up being to big, but the m8's w/ 1mm pitch fit just right, and are much shorter so they'll thread all the way in.
Wanted some of the hex socket head type, but the right combination of diameter and pitch don't seem to exist.
Thanks again for your help!
