Building your own brew stand will teach you a few things. And it turns out one of those things is that when you think you’ve got everything working, you’re wrong. These things are a bouquet of joy and frustration… rarely at the same time.

So what’s a guy do when his solenoid valves don’t quite sound right? You do what any sensible home brewer does: you send them back for warranty. But we’re not talking about you, and we’re far from sensible. So we hit the tool box and ripped these valves apart to expedite the fix.

Are those diaphragm valves? If so, do you have problems with suspended particulate matter preventing a seal when the valve closes?

They are, and we're just controlling gas to the burners to automate the HLT and MT. There's nothing to block them and the seal perfectly.

Not sounding just right can mean allot of things. Do they buzz a little on open or close they buzz all the time. Is it a mechanical noise you are worried about. Do you have something to base the fact they don't sound right on. Kinda new to brewing but I have allot of experience with electronics and controls.
