MoreBeer retrofit conical lid question

Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:44 pm

Last year I bought the new domed, pressurizable lid for the old-style MoreBeer conical. This, of course, meant that the conical would no longer fit in my Sanyo 4912 fridge, necessitating the purchase of an upright freezer to act as my fermentation chamber. So now I'm finally ready to start using the new lid but it doesn't seem to want to fit between the upright posts on the conical that supported the old lid screw bar. Before I hacksaw the posts off, I wanna see if anybody else has had this issue and what they did about it.

OK, I figured it out (at least for my particular conical.) I had been trying to fit the lid and clamp between the posts as a unit, both at the same time. But I found that if I put the clamp on first (no easy feat, BTW. I think I'm just gonna leave it on permanently), I can then slide the lid into it afterwards. No cutting required. D'oh! Image
