PVC is not legal in CA, cpvc is legal as long as it is stamped NSF.

I believe I answered your original question as well as I could:
(A) Yes, it is terribly toxic so don't drink the primer and cement.
(B) If you use too much goo, and have too many joints, you may have an issue for whatever period it takes for all the VOCs to flash off.
and
(C) It ain't code to use PVC in many places for potable water. I think it makes the water taste bad anyway. If you use it for hot it can swell and burst. If you use of for either hot or cold it cracks and shatters too easily for my comfort and it's brittleness is the same reason I won't use of for compressed air. I believe OSHA has banned it for compressed air for that reason.

And I appreciate that. My take away is this:

-I shouldn't plumb my house with PVC...nor drink daily, cook, and make baby formula with water run through PVC.

-When cleaning a carboy, then rinsing with water, then letting dry, then rinsing again with star san, then fermenting beer in that container and only drinking a few (or maybe a bit more) pints per week, I feel OK. Likely all the bad stuff washes away, and if anyone wants to show me otherwise I'd appreciate it.

-I'm going to remake my cleaner and be much more careful with the primer and cement. I was a bit sloppy on this one and the purple is everywhere. If I can minimize the primer and cement exposed, I can mitigate this mostly anyway.
