Is there a temp controller that can control 2 fridges

Sun Aug 28, 2011 9:38 am

Not sure if this is possible. I'm thinking of getting 2 mini fridges for temp controlling fermentations but I don't want to buy 2 controllers if there is one controller with 2 probes. probably doesn't exist but i thought i'd ask. I'm moving into an apartment soon and building a new setup from scratch and I want to think everything through before I buy one new piece of gear.

I don't think there are any 2 probe/2 outlet controllers. You'll probably just be better to go with 2 regular ones.

What Bdawg said. If one exists, I'd bet it'd cost twice as much as buying two single controllers.

Buy two and mount them side by side on a piece of plywood. Voila! Double probe single controller.

One FermTroller (BrewTroller) will control more fridges than you have... (unless you are me... heheh - in which case you can expand it).

I think Brewmasters warehouse has a setup that you can control multiple items. You have to buy the probes individually but it may be what your looking for.

The inexpensive ones on Ebay and other sites are single channel units. Have fun building the box for both and run two for the cost savings. Seen them for $15 to $23 each, thermocouple based.

You could build a PID unit they really arn't that expensive to build if you take your time and find used stuff or go to the cheaper end of the spectrum.

Could reasonable get away with spending about $50 per unit which includes PID, probe, power out, housing, and all the other goodies, that is with new parts by the way.

I am building one right now, 2 channel 2 stage controller. You are mote than likely going to need to build your own controler (at what level, not sure).

Also you don't want to use a PID for a fridge, PID control theory relies on the ability to throttle power, fridge compresses are on or off, and cycling them with PWM will burn out the motor.
