So I'm shitting myself right now....
After my first brewday with using my new 15g Heavy duty kettle I scrubbed it with PBW and one of these:
Then I read this:
"Do not use steel wool or even a stainless steel scrubby; they will cause rust."

I figured the stainless was harder then the scrubber.

I used to you steel wool and I would get rust spots. Now I use the non scratch version. You can get the rust off with Bar Keepers friend, there is no issue your kettle will be fine.

So will I be fighting rust now that I've scoured the surface?

I did the same thing on a keggle (god I hate that term) I made. I got little rust spots once. Cleaned them up with barkeepers friend and the rust never came back. Don't worry your kettle will be fine.

Is that because bar keepers friend repasssivates the surface?
Just came across this:
http://conical-fermenter.com/info-discu ... ess-steel/Is that all that scrubbing does, removes the protective surface?
Sounds like I should be good then if that's the case.

bar keepers friend is aptly named...it works really well and is pretty cheap
and yes, with some scrubbing with bk friend it should re-passivate and be fine
Cheers!
