Hello all - I bought a new 5 gal keg set up today - really sick of cleaning bottles! At the store I was told it take 10 days to carbonate the 5 gals of beer. Online I'm reading as short as 1-2 days. Is it really that variable?

Also, does it make sense e to add some priming sugar to a keg before syphoning the beer in? Or does that just make a mess in the keg?

No need for sugar.

If you want to carb the safe way, set your regulator to ~12 psi and let it sit for a about 10 day.

Or you can set it to 30 psi 24hrs and then turn it down to 12 psi degas the keg and you'll be carbed in a ~2 days.

Or you can set your regulator to 30 psi and rock the keg back and forth for about 15 minutes and you'll be carbed almost instantly.

Cold crash, rack, force-carb= beer in 10 minutes.

That's not a pinky. It just looks like one.

I don't mind if the beer is a little cloudy. As long as I don't have to wash 50 bottles every week!
