I was at my local homebrew store tonight and was buying ingredients and was informed that the manufacturer of the active ingrediant in StarSan and Bryte-San (StarSan knock-off) will no longer be making the stuff. I bought six bottles of the Bryte San when she said that was the last of her supply.
It's hard to believe this, but according to her it's only produced by one company. She learned about it about three-weeks ago.
Has anyone else heard this?

Well I went right straight to the source and emailed charlie at five star directly and asked him to tell me that this in not true so we will see what he has to say.

I can't imagine Charlie would have bothered to come on the show a few weeks ago if he knew he would soon be discontinuing the product he was there to advertize.

Unless they lost a suit or found out a health problem with it I dought it. SS is used for things other than beer and when theres money to be made, someone will make a knockoff or buy the rights.

I think that lady running the homestore just wanted you to empty her inventory for her next shipment.

Well, I doubt that. Not only are they a homebrew shop they're a wholesaler supplying grain, hops and other things to the breweries in the area. They have a good reputation
She said she was told by her supplier that there's only one company that makes the Dodecylbenzenesulfonic Acid (that's as hard to type as it is to say) that is in both Bryte-San and StarSan. I hope she's wrong as well. Hopefully, Henning will hear back from 5 Star today.
