Served my first disappointing BORCA today at the company Xmas party

The spices were very subdued even though I used fresh ground everything. I left the spices in the bourbon for 3 weeks. Too long? I had the 12 oz of bourbon and spices (10 gallon batch) in a quart mason jar. Too much head space? By the time I added enough spiced bourbon to make the spices show up at all, the bourbon was evident as itself, where I had hoped the spices would take center stage. Guess I will try a different spice supplier next year.
