Bear Republic

Fri Dec 10, 2010 2:57 pm

My local good beer store just got in a few Bear Republic brews in so, I picked up the Hot Rod Rye, Red Rocket, XP Pale Ale, and Racer 5 IPA... I'm sure a ton of the army have tried these beers... What do I have in store for me when I crack these open?
I can't wait to get off work and pour a pint... My mouth is watering :)

Hope you like hops!

Bear Republic is awesome. IMO, Racer 5 is amongst the best IPA's in the world.

Yeah this will be my first venture into extreme hop beer world... I've had other IPAs and never really read about them but I did read a little about BRs... Racer 5... 80IBUs yikes!... And I saw several others that went 100+..., I'm doing good tho.. I've been brewing for 6 months mow and my pallet couldn't handle an IPA... But I've trying everything I can get my hands on... We miss out on a ton of good beer in Louisiana...

Bear Republic rocks! Racer 5 is right up there with Green Flash West Coast IPA IMHO. Enjoy your indulgence.

Racer 5 is gone... That is a great beer! To me it the bitterness doesn't change much from 50 to 75 IBUs... Is this because this beer is in balance?

Tonight it's gonna be the hot rod rye.,, it will be my first rye beer

Yes, exactly. It has enough malt backbone to balance the hops. Love that beer.

Hop Rod Rye has a similar flavor profile, but the addition of Rye adds a spicy touch. It's a great beer too.
