I am bottle conditioning this one. (Don't have any corny room right now.) I'm at work but if I remeber right I finished at 1.014. My effeciency was low by 5 points so it's probably a tad bit more bitter.
Prim: Broken Neck Wheat

I racked for the 2nd round of dry hop and took another gravity reading and it was 1.011. I think the last time it had too much carbonation, so I read lower.

Tasted AWESOME! :aaron

So how's the judging going to work? I know it's a bit early since some people just brewed, but I'm curious.

I need to go through one more round and confirm who is really "in". A few people have already backed out. Then I need to break up the groups geographically. Within the next week or so, I should have the groups identified and everyone will receive an email with further instructions.

This one is going to be interesting, for sure. There are only a handful of participants with BJCP experience. Additionally, we have chosen a beer that does not conform to a particular style - so there will be even more variability in the results.

Stay tuned.

Mylo's right...the recipe is not to style. With all respect to the BJCP, this could be a situation where the beer that simply tastes the best is the best. I know... it's a revolutionary idea and doesn't allow for subtracting points for too hoppy or too malty or too much hop aroma or too roasty or too fuckin this or too fuckin that or too .....sorry :? ...got carried away there. I really do love judges. Frankly, I've found that, outside the Best Of Show round, if the beer is clean and tasty, a lot of judges will forget about the style guidelines and find someway for the beer to win. That, in my opinion, is how my recipe won the AHA Brown Ale category in 2004. Oh.....and a lot of luck.
