There wouldn't be enough time to properly brew/age another lager and I bottled just enough (4) for the NHC competition before all the new rule changes were posted for this year ... specifically the 2 bottles rule for first round. Now, after hypothetically placing, I only have 2 bottles available for the final round. Can I just submit the 2 bottles and at least compete for the category judging? I'd be screwed for any BOS, but that would be my AHA induced problem.

Thoughts?

Just send in the 2 bottles. You won't be eligible for BOS (Homebrewer of the year) like you said though.

or just rebrew it this weekend, you might be able to get it ready by the deadline

edit: of course if you rebrew and you want to do a taste test to decide which to enter then you would be down to one bottle of your old batch.

If any of your entries qualify for the Final Round judging, the AHA will e-mail you a notice by May 24, 2013 with instructions on how, when and where to send entries three (3) bottles per qualifying entry) for Final Round judging. Contestants are advised to refrigerate or properly store potential Final Round entries to minimize changes in character.

In the past there was a 1 bottle requirement for 1st round (now 2). I'm pretty sure last year was 3 bottles as well.

Everything switched to processed in the past bit. I'm guessing they are rushing to get the results out by close of business today

 Good job man. You'd better send a bottle or two to Ozwald's Sensory Analysis Lab to make sure the judges didn't make a mistake though.
