The best beer event in the southern hemisphere will be taking place in Wellington, New Zealand on the 5th & 6th August 2011. You've heard Jamil talk about how wonderful NZ beers are, you may even have seen some shots of Wellington in the Brew Masters TV programme. I'm biased, but it's definitely worth visiting. If ever you were thinking about visiting NZ, this is the time to do it.

Cheers,

Martin

That's great news. Any info on events & speakers? When do you think bookings will open?

No details as yet, but I speak often to the organiser so I'll post when tickets go on sale. The website (http:www.beervana.co.nz/) is currently a bit out of date but I'm sure it will be updated soon.

Cheers,

Martin

looks like ive been given the go ahead by swmbo and shes coming as well.
just a question on the sessions is it more like the gabf or like the anhc. ie is a session just time to go in and wander and try the beers or is it educational?

I've never been to the GABF or NHC (although I will before I pop my clogs), so I can't comment on that. The way Beervana has worked in the past is that the sessions are mainly for sampling, although there will be educational seminars (beer & food matching etc.) happening in separate rooms during the sessions. This year the organisers are aiming to get as many of the brewers as possible to be present, but not trapped behind the bars. They will be circulating so that people can ask them questions, talk about the beers etc.

The tickets are now on sale via the website. I'd recommend booking a couple of sessions. I tend to go for the afternoon sessions which leaves me the evenings free to explore the excellent beer bars in Wellington (and there's an ever-increasing number of those - 2 more with a combined 90 taps opening soon).

Cheers,
