Actually, I'm not sure if I can look into a keg or not. I was originally thinking of making the legs four inches shorter, just high enough so I could gravity feed into my Fermentator. My main concern isn't seeing into the keg, but stirring the mash in my cooler mash tun. Then it occurred to me that it would be a lot easier to chop the legs shorter than to make them longer, so I went with the Savant dimensions, and no wheels at the moment. I'll do a test batch as is. After that I'll decide if I want to put on wheels and increase the height, or chop the legs to decrease it, or just leave it as it is.

i have basic 1x1" square tube on my current converted keg system. i could fill all the tuns with water, climb up on top, and jump up and down and the thing isn't going to budge. i don't know what gauge it is but i would guess somewhere aroound 10-11.

i'm working on a 55 gallon setup right now and i'm going to use 2" square tube.

Also known as Unistrut or strut channel. The stuff is great and there are tons of fittings for it to do most anything.

http://www.mcmaster.com carries lots of it in galvanized steel, painted steel, aluminum, & stainless along with every accessory you can think of.

Well, you could replace the sections one at a time as they rust. Behold the power of the strut channel!

Absolutely did make sparks fly when I used my abrasive chop saw to cut up the unistrut. Looked like a Detroit steel foundry in there.
