Obama messes up all the time when he is sans teleprompter. LIke when he said there were 57 states ... or he stumbled for a good minute during a "town Hall meeting". Which is why he now campaigns with a teleprompter.

I love Obama fans - they are quick to judge and accuse everyone else, and even quicker to excuse Obamamama when he flubs it.

Well she is not dumb ... she runs a state and is a VP candidate. Hell I'm not sticking up for her, I'm just saying that it's funny how Obamamama supporters are so fanatical about him and are almost blind to the fact that he has the same flaws as other people.


BrewBum - exactly my point. They both mess up. But it is rare for the news to focus on an Obama flub ("he's tired") and more opt to focus on a McCain or a Bush flub ("He lied to us").

Soon after Sarah Palin was elected mayor of the foothill town of Wasilla, Alaska, she startled a local music teacher by insisting in casual conversation that men and dinosaurs coexisted on an Earth created 6,000 years ago -- about 65 million years after scientists say most dinosaurs became extinct -- the teacher said.

After conducting a college band and watching Palin deliver a commencement address to a small group of home-schooled students in June 1997, Wasilla resident Philip Munger said, he asked the young mayor about her religious beliefs.

Palin told him that "dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time," Munger said. When he asked her about prehistoric fossils and tracks dating back millions of years, Palin said "she had seen pictures of human footprints inside the tracks," recalled Munger, who teaches music at the University of Alaska in Anchorage and has regularly criticized Palin in recent years on his liberal political blog, called Progressive Alaska.

The idea of a "young Earth" -- that God created the Earth about 6,000 years ago, and dinosaurs and humans coexisted early on -- is a popular strain of creationism.

Though in her race for governor she called for faith-based "intelligent design" to be taught along with evolution in Alaska's schools, Gov. Palin has not sought to require it, state educators say.

And that is the key, that she is not forcing people to teach it. She can have her own beliefs, I don't care. She finds comfort in religion, it makes her happy. That is the beauty of living where we do. We can say those things and not worry about being drug onto the soccer field and be-headed.

I just have a problem with an extremist like this being our president, you think Bush was quick to pull the trigger on war. This women would be all over it. She may not be forcing it yet but the possibility is there. I just don't want that risk. Give me someone that is quitely religious, I have no problem with faith but it should be personal.

I just think that McCain really blew it with this women. He could have done so much better. I don't think many people would disagree with that. She makes Dan Quayle look like a fantastic pick.

I agree JP that we live in a nifty country where we can do, basically, what we want. One issue I have is with the following text:

WHEREAS, James Madison, father of the United States Constitution advocated "the diffusion of the light of Christianity in our nation" in his Memorial and Remonstrance.

WHEREAS, Patrick Henry quoted Proverbs 14:34 for our nation, "Righteousness alone can exalt a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people."

WHEREAS, George Mason, in his Virginia Declaration of Rights, forerunner to our United States Bill of Rights, affirmed, "That it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forebearance, love and charity towards each other."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Palin, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim October 21-27, 2007, as Alaska's 9th Annual Christian Heritage Week in Alaska, and encourage all citizens to celebrate this week.


When/where did she declare any other week in the year Russian Orthodox heritage week, or Native Alaska heritage week, or any other religion that existed before the state even did?

I think it is wrong for an elected official to force their beliefs upon the citizens.
