Chat using a Mac

Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:17 pm

Good evening fellow BN'ers!

Ok, I'm a recent convert to the Mac, and I could use some assistance with Chat...

1) If I minimize Chat, or go to a new window and then go back to Chat, I need to refresh the window which causes me to lose all of the previous messages

and

2) I can't seem to be able to paste into Chat. I can copy from Photobucket, but the paste doesn't seem to function. I'd like to be able to share some photos with fellow chatters!

Thanks in advance if anyone has some good advice!

Cheers!

Hate to say it but, There's your problem!

I'd see if it's to late for trade backs. Not say'n, just say'n!

I use my MAC all the time for the chat.
You should be able to copy paste the url where your pics are located without a problem in the chat but not post the pic itself if that is what you are trying to do.
As far as the new tab booting you out of the chat try Command N instead of Command T this will give you a new window in Safari not just a new tab allowing you to remain active in the chat even if you are not looking at it at the time, I found this after being booted myself a couple of times. This is what I do when the Beer Cam is up. I open a new window and then can be in the chat in d see the cam at the same time. Hope that helps.

No no no. Chat and copy and paste work fine for Mac. First off, learn to use the mac like a mac, not a PC. You don't need to "minimize" windows. Just put them in a dock. Use Safari. Hide open windows by option clicking on the desktop. Put certain windows/apps in one of the "spaces."

When I BN chat, I open the chat in it's own window and it usually gives me a little stand-alone chat window. Just double click the original window's top bar to hide it away in the dock. Then you are golden.

Congrats on the switch. Ignore the anti-mac crap that will insue. From my experience 99% of the mac bashers have never touched one :) ;)

I worked on them for about 6 years, this is where I gained my animosity toward them.

Macs can also run XP and Vista much better and faster than a PC.

Cool, thanks for the tips on the Command N versus the Command T...that works much better!

lol @ the troubleshooting poster!

I'm still having trouble pasting in links links though...very strange. If I copy the links from Photobucket, Command V or Control/Click/Paste doesn't paste it in.

The paste function seems to work fine here in the forums though:
