Making Freezer Look Nice

Good to see you used cutouts to check for carboy/keg capacity. I wish I had done that for my first kegerator.

The problem with covering the freezer is with how modern freezers are constructed. Old ones were designed with the condenser coils on the back so there could be good air flow around them. Now they put the coils under the skin of the freezer so that the outer skin of the freezer works to radiate heat from the coils. If you, in effect, insulate that skin from the ambient air, the coils do not cool properly, causing the compressor to work harder and shortening the life of the compressor.

If your girlfriend (kudos to her for letting you go to 10 gallons) doesn't like the appliance look, pick up a nice fabric covered folding Japanese screen to set in front of it. This will make a nice decorating touch for the room and will be easy to move to get access to the freezer.

+1 on the screen. Also you could put lighting behind the screen for a nice indirect affect, too.

Build a bar around it, you could have it behind a wood piece but with an inch of air space and some PC fans to exhaust the air. I have seen some pictures of very nicely decorated keezers built into bars, you are doing pretty much the same thing minus the taps.

There are a variety of decorative/protective films that are used for both Automotive and Architectural finishes. I think the site only shows a few carbon fiber options, but we also have wood, and brushed metal films in stock. We also have access to a large range of other looks.

I wrapped my ice cream freezer (one of thos boxes you'll find at a 7-11), in a gloss white to match my serving fridge sitting beside it. No pics though, but it blends well.

With that carbon fiber wrap, Mount a wing and some neons on it and your beer will ferment 50% faster.

A freezer will let me ferment one and lager too. Sadly as beautiful as they are, I'd have to get 3 to do the same job.
