Damn O Ring!

Went to pull dry hops out of a keg of bitters and the damn o ring fell off and into the keg. Its now at the bottom of davy jones locker. Im pretty anal about sanitizing my kegs and their parts so im not especially worried about comtamination. What i am concerned about is flavor contamination from a couple of weeks of contact with the beer. I know these things are food grade...but do you guys think I should push the beer into a new keg or just retrieve when the keg kicks?

if you have an empty what's it cost ya, a few pounds of CO2?

I've had a few beers so my 1st thought was a fish hook, that might work too.

Why don't you go to the auto parts store and buy one of those long devices used to retrieve screws, nuts etc. from unreachable crevices in automobiles? Give it a good soak in sanitizer, shake it off and you should be able to retrieve the ring pretty easily.

I would think a racking cane could probably be purposed into an O-ring fishing rod easily and cheaply as well. Or even a dip tube from another keg.

Another option is to not let your beer sit several weeks, but to drink it all immediately.

Im goin with the fish it out with a dip tub approach. Ill probably drop the replacement o ring in when i try to fish the other one out. I should probably get drunk before I try to do this.

It'll help with your hand-eye coordination. Also your dexterity.
