Can I get the dog treat recipe? That is a great idea.

Both the BYO and Ozwald's recipes have been posted (slightly different).

Ozwald wrote:For some reason I filed it under S. Probably cause I don't make dog biscuits other than the Spent Grain variety. At least I found it:

4 cups non-hopped spent grain
4 cups wheat flour
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg

Mix well & bake @ 370 for 10-15 minutes. This is at ~5000' altitude, so you may have to adjust the temp down as much as 15-20 degrees. When they get a bit of color to them, they're done. Dogs still love them a little underbaked, but they don't last quite as long.

Anyone feed them to horses? Horses love barley. I don't know about malted, sugar depleted barley.
Jan Wolfhouse: So yeah, I heard you got fired from the brewery?
Landfill: God damn brewery! You know that brewery makes 10,000 bottles of beer a day. I drink 45 of them, and I'm the asshole!

I would be real carefull with that idea ... horses are really prone to getting colic with even slight changes in their diets. If you went forward with the idea, ween them slowly into the spent grains and then ween them slowly off of them. Colic sucks! I wouldn't even take the chance with horses.

Completely agree. It's just not worth it. The relatively high concentration of simple sugars will really do a number on their digestive system. This can also cause founder, which will lame your horse for life.
