Tom Magliozzi

I just heard Tom Magliozzi died a couple of days ago. Complications from Alzheimer's. Very sad indeed.

For those who may not recognize the name, Tom & his younger brother Ray have been hosting the radio show Car Talk for nearly 4 decades.

Sad news indeed. Tom and Ray accompanied me on many long car trips; I would download a dozen shows and listen to them for 10 hours straight. Never got tired of listening to them, and as an added bonus, it drives the wife crazy.

That was bad news. I've been listening to car talk for....man i don't know. He was an impressive person, with an impressive life. His quick humor and laugh were a national treasure.

I didn't realize they stopped recording new shows about 2 years ago. Even since then it's been one of the biggest radio shows out there. Over 4 million people tune in every week. I listened to them long ago, but hadn't for a while. Then NPR started publishing them in podcast form a year or 2 ago & I've been an avid listener since. Ray is pushing for NPR to continue playing the old episodes in Tom's honor. I hope they do.

I listen to mostly podcasts in the car & NPR still releases a 'new' one every Sunday.
