It's not MY wonder box.... but here is the logic....
It could be PID but frankly during discussions with the software developers for our application it doesn't make sense to go to the extra expense and time to make it PID.
For those of you who don't know what PID is it is a logic to gradually "pulse" the power to make a more "smooth" temperature curve. For MOST homebrewing uses PID does not make sense due to the "Thermal Inertia" involved. Also PID is a BAD idea when working with standard refrigeration.

In summary, from what I understand PID could be available with proper programming and could be a feature in the future, but it will not be available at the beginning.

Us long haired hippy folks have to stick together. With that said it should be a matter of time. Im sure there will have to be a stockpile of parts before he can start selling as well.
One concern is the temp probe . By pictures the the cord looks to be about 5/32 in diameter. Will it dissrupt the seal on my fridge?.

Where did you see pictures??? :)
Don't respond it isn't public yet!
The probe isn't much bigger than other commercial options and shouldn't be a problem.. if it is it can easily be put on other wires that are thinner.

Ok I have been argueing with the marketing department for R2Brew2 for the name of the "secret" controller... I have been shot down like a wamp rat...
Look for an official name soon
I have also seen pictures of the "motherboard"... "daugherboards" should be coming soon.... after that it is pretty much order the parts and start building the demo units.... YAY!
I was talking to the programming department the otherday and it looks like it may have a simple scripting engine.... something like ...

TEMP1 > 65F RELAY1 ON
or some bullshit like that... hell it was early and I DON'T WRITE COMPUTER CODE ok... but it was somewhat logical even for me

The Super Secret Temp Controller has evolved and been named....
It now does more than temp control with scripting

This scripting you speak of...Is this user tweakable scripting? I guess that makes it more of a PLC if that is the case. I program PLC's but I have not found one for less than $300. That would be great if you could write your own code.

The future of the "BrewDroid" is to have user scriptability... perhaps not total source code but certainly predefined functionalities. Not sure if this is in the offering for v1 but should be available with a firmware upgrade.
Swappable "daughter cards" with differing functions (relays, I/O, etc) perhaps even stackable is one of the plans... again not sure if this is v1 or future release, but I will say this... this mofo will be very customizable and versatile... your run of the mill Johnson it will not be.
