brass fittings

I have a load of brass fittings hanging around. Is there anything wrong with brass compared to copper? I know that the brass has to be cleaned first. Just thought that I would try to use these in my RIMS to cut the cost down.

Brass contains some lead, to make it more easily machinable. This lead can be temporarily removed from the surface by using a mild acid solution. I think the process is in Rock Candy's book, or online on his website.

The whole I might be getting lead in my beer thing freaks people out. I have brass on my HLT and it seems fine. Of course I haven't had water tested that has come out of there either.

Yeah, this whole "lead in my beer" thing is blown way out of proportion. I mean, lead never hurt anyone! I think it give a nice metallic bite to my brews. Man, my head is hurting me. I'm really fatigued. What was I talking about again? Oh, yeah....

Beer or Wort or Hot Liquor never sit on the brass for very long anyway. It's just passing through. I have a headach too dammit.
