Where Brewing is an Art and Brettanomyces is King
The Session broadcasts its 300th episode this week, as the Brewcasters welcome Gabe Fletcher, the founder of Anchorage Brewing Company. One of the newest breweries to open in Alaska, Anchorage specializes in barrel fermentation with brettanomyces and souring cultures. Gabe uses his 15 years of experience to combine new and old styles of brewing, and his products are some of the most unique beers ever made. This episode also features another conversation with Stu Stuart of Belgian Beer Me, as well as listener flashback requests for some of the greatest moments of Sessions past.

Belgian Beer Me Tours by Larry Hicks, January 04, 2013
Great shows and I particularly enjoyed this program in part because I took a beer tour, the Lonely Monks tour (went to all the Trappist breweries), with Stu Stuart in October 2010. I was that guy that kept putting it off and circumstances led my son and I to go on very short notice. I had promised my son a trip to Europe upon graduation from college (yes... I bribed him). I had always envisioned him going with friends or a girlfriend etc. but everyone was either in school or working. He asked me to go on a beer tour with him in order to cash in on my promise. Did I raise a great son or what? With a week's lead time we had a window of opportunity for a couple of weeks. Phone call to Stu and he hooked us up. It was great! Everything he says is the truth. Perfect balance of structure and free time. Everything is done for you. Great hotels, food and of course beer. Tasted probably a hundred different beers. Go to Bruges!! Stu helped us with information and we were able to go to Amsterdam at the end of our tour. Great advice all around. Stu is a friend for life and I call him occasionally to talk about beer and get advice. This is an unpaid recommendation and I am looking forward to another tour, Germany the next time! Although I could do it myself, Stu has already done all the work! Duh. This is not your standard tour and it is really laid back . Still stay in touch with most of the people who were in our group. Can't say that often about any other vacation!. Have Stu on again. I pop a Belgian or two and sit back and enjoy!
